Matt Smith, 17VLD drove in from Colorado Sunday and arrived just in time for a sunset shoot at the 1400 yard line. He had a new caliber for the DOME, a 6.5 WSM shooting the 142 Sierras at 32XX fps. Smoking hot caliber. He zeroed at 100, then checked his impact at 800 yds and we moved up to Rocky Top to try the 18 inch plate at 1432 yards.
I was shooting the THUD 284 and 183 SMK's.

Shot this THUD rifle at the 1400 yard line

THUD was sporting the NF B.E.A.S.T today

I mounted the BEAST and took a few sighters at 100 yds.
The vertical may call for about a half grain more of RL-17

I landed a shot at 3 o'clock on the plate. Matt took a few shots with the 284, then Shayne took the last 5 or 6 shots hitting the plate once at 12 o'clock.
Monday Matt shot his 6 Dasher out to 1000 yds but did not have enough moa to go past 1,000 yd. This rifle had no moa built into the rings or rail. Matt had a NF BR 8 x 32 on one rifle and I believe a 12 x 42 NF BR on the other.
Next I took Matt to the 2,000 yard line and I touched off the first round. Matt had given up on seeing splash when finally the bullet touched earth and there was the splash. Time of flight is 3.5 seconds. We shot at a small cedar tree that looked to be the size of a 2 gallon bucket. A couple of his shots we saw no splash which indicated to us that the bullet went through the cedar bush which hid the splash.
2000 yd video of Matt with the other 284. This rifle has a NF ACTAR MOAR T
Loading for two 284 rifles simultaneously
