I have heard that. Seems it works for some.147 is a turd bullet
New barrel, maybe a box worth of ammo thru it nowWhat condition is your barrel in? Worn barrels do not play well with 147 Hornady.
Probably take several boxes before the barrel breaks in, to see solid accuracy potential. Especially a factory barrelNew barrel, maybe a box worth of ammo thru it now
Ar10.What type of rifle are we talking about? Factory ammo of any sort has never impressed me over what I can do with a custom load work up. The 147 is one of the more popular bullets people want me to work up loads for and it has always shot well for me. *at Creedmoor velocities*.
"Factory" bear creek.Factory or aftermarket barrel? I had Factory Remington in 6.5 Creedmoor that was totally garbage. I put about 300 rounds of Factory and handloads through it and it still wouldn't do better than 3 inches at 100. Put a new Brux on and life is good.
Good to know. I think I was hyper fixating on the BC. I don't think it's that big of a difference because I can't read wind within 10 miles an hour LOLWe have two bergara 6.5cm rifles. Both shoot 140 well One shoots 147 good, and the other one hates them. Like 2 MOA or something.
We went completely away from 147 and just standardized our target load at 140.
Honestly, i would rather a hunting bullet. Im in the fragmenting bullet club, so Berger hunting bullets/TMK stuff works for me.If the 147 Hornady doesn't work well, try the 144 Berger Hybrid Target for a heavier bullet.
I have lee pacesetter dies & press and a old rock chucker.Buy a seating die and a lee nut cracker press. This will allow you to seat the bullets a little deeper and see if it is the seating depth that is the problem. It is the easiest way to get into reloading. Seating depth tests are an important fundamental of learning to tune a rifle. Not the only one, but a great place to start.
An neither does a barrel with too short a throat as most have. What condition is your barrel in? Worn barrels do not play well with 147 Hornady.
In my rifle I get better results with the Berger 140 VLD Hunting that the 140 VLD Target, also better results than the Berger 144 HT or the 153.5 LGHT, not much but a little better. Most are inside .5 MOA, the 140 VLD Hunting are inside .35 MOA.Honestly, i would rather a hunting bullet. Im in the fragmenting bullet club, so Berger hunting bullets/TMK stuff works for me.
I got a few boxes of hornady match i bought before i could load, guess I'll just sell them. Of course i bought a box to hand load too
I got a box of berger 140 vld hunting, 140 nosler BT, 130 tmk, 140 nosler partitions and 120 sierra spitzers from the 70's. Im sure ill find something else it likes from that list.
My Aero 10 loved the Berger 140 VLD target.Honestly, i would rather a hunting bullet. Im in the fragmenting bullet club, so Berger hunting bullets/TMK stuff works for me.
