6.5 grendel powder

Shooting a Howa 1500, 20" bbl.

Currently using H335 with 107 Sierra TMK, but I hear this powder very temperature sensitive...??

Wanting to try some different bullets that are suitable for hunting, rather than paper punching. Share some good powders and bullets for the grendel.

IMR 8208 XBR or CFE 223 seem to be the two go to powders. i shoot mostly 123 gr Hornady SST's and the 8208 gives me better groups. The CFE 223 gave better velocity but not as good groups and was really dirty (but easy to clean).

I used the 130gn SGK with 205M and PowerPro Varmint at ~27.5gn. SD of 3 and ES of 6 with nice groups. This combo was 2300fps in a 20" barrel. I went hotter but the SD was higher, still good but higher.
Another consistently accurate powder has been ARcomp using 123gn bullets. 27.8-28gn load.

I have the same set up and use the same bullet after much work I settled on 28 grains or ar comp out of my gun it shoots half moa to 400 yards. Or half minute prarie dog witnessed at 400yards or first round cold bore hits to 580 yards in a prs match hope this helps and tested all of the mentioned powders too. velocity is 2450

NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH 335 IT FUELS MY GRENDEL THE BEST

AR Comp under 120-123's, 8208 is good but watch for pressure jumps.
Speer 120 Gold Dots are very accurate and kill very well. Another good bullet is the Nosler 129gr ABLR, expands down to 1300 fps and doesn't like to slow down.

Power Pro and XBR 8208 are my best loads with 123g Lapua. hadnt thought of BLC-2, must give it a try.

IMR 8208 XBR for the heavier bullets and H335 for 85-90 GRS for me . CFE just didn't have the accuracy with the heavier bullets. If you use 8208 work up slow and watch for pressure spikes. It gave my best accuracy with 120-123 gr bullets. Each rifle is different so yours might like something better.

I have been using Benchmark in my Grendel's with smaller bullets 107 TMK and 107 HPMK

If you do a search on Hodgdons web site leave the "powder selection " blank it pops up. IIRC using it results in the highest velocity of the powders they suggest.

It also happens to be in nearly every store I walk in, so it readily available in the Houston area.

Burned up two pounds of IMR 8208 in three of my Grendels and never got the SD or ES where I wanted them.

So I basically only use H335 120gr bullets and Benchmark for 107's and 90gr TNT...

FYI...my Grendel 's are all AR platform rifles
