6.5 Grendel in AR - What dies?

For those of you shooting a 6.5 Grendel or .264LBC in an AR platform, are you using a conventional or small base die set to get the best operation and accuracy?

FWIW, I have used the Forster dies exclusively for the 6.5 Grendel. I do not have the Ultra seater, just the plain one which is very good.

I would like to try the Redding bushing FL sizer, but probably won't spend the $ for it as I would rather buy bullets.......

I'm using a standard RCBS FL sizing die to do the brass, with a Forster Ultra seating die. I'm loading 120-123 gr. bullets in AA brass
and AA 2520 powder for NRA HP XTC matches. Personally, I don't think there is any need for SB dies unless you have an extremely tight
chamber, and most AR's don't.

I am using Redding FL bushing die and Competition seater and have never had a FTF with any in my Les Baer, .264 LBC AR chambered, barrel. It's a consistent .6 MOA to 600 yards.

Using Redding Type S Match Bushing 2-Die Set, was lucky enough to buy it as new, used, otherwise I probably wouldn't have sprung for it. Its a great setup and just makes loading for my 264LBC so much easier.

Thanks. Have any of you noticed if when getting near max loads if the .264LBC-AR chamber develops pressue issues any quicker than the 6.5 Grendel chamber? I ask since most of the published data if for the normal 6.5 and I'm in the process of building a .264 match rifle and wanted to know if I might run into any pressure issues sooner than the data might suggest.

Jr, running a .264lbc upper, using Grendel dies and load data. Have not seen any issues with regards to publish load data being an issue in my rifle. Obviously I loaded a little less and worked up towards to these loads.

JMjr, I am running the .264 LBC AR and I think as long as your necks aren't too thick you shouldn't have a pressure issue. From what I have seen the tighter neck dimensions of the .264 is the only difference between the two. Sort of a 6.5 Grendel Match and I have a Pac Nor barrel coming in this and expect to find a .264 LBC neck dimension when fired. Your brass should last longer as the Grendel chambering seems to be excessive in this dimension probably in an attempt to increase functioning in the AR platform.

I use Redding FL dies and AA2520. It gives me sub MOA at 200 yards.

Thanks for the info. I see that the .264-LBC-AR brass from LBS uses a large rifle primer, but the AA reloading info on their site uses small primers in their brass - mostly CCI 450s. So again, does that change the reloading info much? For guys using the large primer brass, are you using standard or magnum primers?

JR, none of the brass or ammo that I ever got from Les Baer used large rifle primers, that is to include both the older Les Baer Black Hills ammo in 6.5 Grendel and the newer Black Hills ammo in 264LBC. I use CCI 450 and in a pinch Rem 71/2.

I have bought about 500 pieces from LBC and it is all SR. I use the 450's for just about all loads now, but have used 7 1/2's, Wolf SRM's, 205M, and 205's. For me the 450's work best.
