6.5 grendel bullet choice for coyotes

To the guys who run grendels at night or day chasing song dogs what bullets do you use and have success with ? I know they are tough animals and shot placement is everything. Pelt damage is not a concern. Thanks

I shot several with 90 grain Speer tnt with great results. Drops them like a hammer with big holes. Definitely not for a pelt hunter. I can't recall the powder I was using. Think it was h322 but can check. Matt

I also have used some Sierra 100's. Shot P-dogs with them but no yotes yet. But I have no doubt they would do well.

All you need is the sierra 85g jhp for the ar15 rigs.
In a bolt gun just the 95g vmax as it feeds nicley.
My 85g ar15 load is at 2940 fps.
95vm bolt load is at 2841fps.
Both nicley accurate, drops coyote on the spot.
Another great bullet is speers 90g tnt.
Must be a longer barrel ar correct ?

I do have a few boxes of the bullets mentioned so far except for the 100gr sierra. As said before shot placement is critical but man I hate runners especially the ones you can’t find

123 ELD M works great. As 5spd says the 85 gr Sierra shoot great out of both my Grendels. Haven’t shot anything with the 85’s but the 123 ELD M I have and they kill. The 85 gr Sierra has been discontinued I think.

Yessir it has

I like light because they shoot flat and straight in my rifle, I wish Speer made a 75gr HP in 6.5. Coyotes aren't really that tough, my go-to coyote rifles are a couple 222 Rems with 52gr Speers and my favorite pelt hunting rifle is a 22-204 with 40gr NBTs. Use whatever bullet you comfortable any hunting bullet out of a 6.5G is going to kill coyotes just fine.

Yea. They really are that tough, got a will to live like nothing I ever seen before. I have seen them carry a kill shot out of the field a many a time. Take their running gear out and they still run lol Amazing hateful animals they are

My rifle shoots the 123gr ELDM and SST equally well. I reload using the SST bullet so that my gun is dialed in with one load that will cover anything that I may encounter on a hunt (varmint, deer, and pigs). Now if I was making the gun dedicated to a single purpose then pick the bullet that is best suited for the job.

There are a solid selection of bullets that you can tailor to your purpose. As long as the shooter does his job behind the trigger then any number of these projectiles will be lethal to a coyote.

They don't make them anymore but the Sierra 85gr has been an outstanding bullet for me in the Grendel. I've got a little less than 300 of them left and then it's on to something else but man they shoot good and give really good performance on dogs. I rarely get an exit, and when I do it's not a terrible hole. I'm using a Howa Mini setup.

I shoot Nosler 100 grain ballistic tip in both my AR and my bolt gun. Devasting on yotes even on frontal shots.
