6.5 Grendel barrel life?

Just curious if anyone knows... ive never heard before.

Running very slow fire single shot, at 2560ish fps. Cut rifle barrel.

Am approaching 2k on mine shooting factory hornaday 123amax. Still shoots the same as new. I have a 24" shilen barrel. Ive been told around 5k it will go down with normal use no rapid fire
 
Forever . . . a long time, anyway, based on your description of utilization.

If discipline is exercised with respect to rate of fire - for the AR crowd.

Burning ~29 grains of powder in a 6.5 mm bore. A Grendel barrel should outlive a .308 Win by a lot, all other things being equal.
 
I would guess 1 million rounds...;)

But seriously, the Grendel is a low capacity, low velocity case. Barrel life with the Grendel should not even be a concern.

Thats what I thought..
 
My 16" Sabre Defense barrel has probably over 8K rounds and hasn't changed. It's shot a mix of factory and reloads and its still the same now as it was when i got it. I love the Grendel.
 
From the FWIW Dept, I know the Grendel was designed for the AR platform but dang, they make a real nifty rifle. I have one made on a Brazilian cock on closing platform (I think Century Arms or someone like that did an original conversion to 7.62 x 39mm) that I use for a truck gun and another built on a Savage that I let guest target shoot with. It's a steel ringer out to 400 yards easy with a Vortex Crossfire scope. Both are fun guns.
 
If your shooting it hot expect a little less then 5000rd, but most can get way more. With a load of 29gr of BR 4650rd before barrel starts to wain.
