At my age I shouldn't do any before I have my caffeine! Thanks for the correction David. Ya had me going for a second. LOL
The M855 A1 pressure is 62,366 PSI, I believe 70,000 PSI is proof testing. I have 2 AR 15's 1 in 556 and 1 in 6mm ARC I run at 52,000 PSI.David, technically by the Army’s ammo standard in pure pressure numbers you were right the first time. The M16 platform proof ammo numbers are actually higher than for 7.62. However, due to the AR bolt design, I wouldn’t shoot 70K loads with 65 grendel bolt.
I hear ya David and I'm not even that old! LOLAt my age I shouldn't do any before I have my caffeine!
NZ,I have found that PowerPro Varmint from Alliant gives the highest velocity - a 123g Lapua around 2560fps from my Howa Mini./Lapua Brass. 8208, is however the powder that I normall run, owing to availability and cost of PPV.
Currently, winter rain allowing, playing with 100g Hornadys with Benchmark, for a hunting /300yd load.
Not a lot of difference betweek PPV and 8208 at 500 yds. Benchmark/100g seems good at 100, I have not been out to 300 with it yet, but it should make 1/2moa with little tweaking. Ill be trying the SMK 108's too, which could be a 600yd load.NZ,
Are you seeing any big differences in accuracy between the powders you have tried? Speed has never been a big thing for me, but accuracy diffidently is.
