6.5 Creedmoor walks on water

Interesting. I was never a fan of Ruger cast receivers ( they tried to make a rifle for the Palma team many moons ago that was cast and they wouldn’t shoot). Avoided any Ruger bolt action like the plague. I’m a decade behind the times regarding Ruger but after reading your positive review I checked out the American and to my surprise it’s made of bar stock! I’ll have to check one out some day.
Understood
However....
Apparently,
The -Ruger American- is more American,
The receiver being made from 4140 chromoly bar stock
Source:

and NOT a CAST Receiver
like the M77 was
---
otherwise I'd be in agreement there
---
I do own one M77 now, its fine
I did own another M77 in 22-250, it shot 1/2MOA
They def need bedding and other things to help them if you are going to hang a heavy barrel off them.
A Win Mod 70 or Rem 700 (Chromoly) are better in that regard compared to an M77
---
But the Ruger American is pretty Solid, not the same as the M77
So you're good to go :)

Meh.

I chambered a 260Rem just because I could.

No regrets, no 'fan boys', no hype.

Suits me just fine.

Long ago, folks were short with words but those words carried a ton of meaning.

Those folks would probably ask, "So. If everyone else was jumping off a bridge, would you just get in line?"

Do a .260 AI next. You'll love it. 3,000 fps with a 140 without any fuss and bother.

Say what you will..about the only thing every one will agree on.
(The 6.5 creed is a pretty cool cartridge)
When ever i shoot mine im reminded of its easy above average accuracy, mild mild recoil.
Component prices are not too too painful. And the selections are plentiful.
Probably one of the most offered ready to ship barrels currently offered besides 308 win.
Even if you dont like the 6.5 creed your gonna like it after re-education ..the industry will cram it down your throat whether your hungry or not ...shut up and swallow boy..
Now you better sound off you love the beloved 6.5 creedmore hahahaha..

I'm thinking about next year's rifle and looking seriously at the .22 arena. I just read the Hornady 11th write-up on 6.5 Creedmoor. Wow! By the end I could almost see it walking on water. It may be better than sliced bread. And on the recoil calculation website it is a pussycat when shot from the 12 pound Ruger Precision rifle. I could almost see switching over from the .22 crew.
You have something that's not 6.5????

I have a .22 Hornet, currently my only non-rimfire. Hadn't bought or owned a centerfire in almost 50 years since I sold my too much recoil .25-06. Debating adding another to join the Hornet as one of next year's guns. Still studying and spec'ing on options.

I'm a plinker, not a shooter. No hunting, just enjoying myself at the range. With a 100 yard limit I probably don't need anything beyond the Hornet. I should probably look into a magnum rimfire to fit between the .22lr's and the Hornet for that.

You definitely need more reeducation as you can’t spell it correctly yet. lol

I would consider the .223 Remington for your type of shooting.

It is definitely on the suspects list for if I do add another CF. That and the .224 Valkyrie are probably top contenders of current mainstream, or close to, offerings. I really like the .222 Remington from when I had it in a Super 14 Contender too though. I might have to go weird again like choosing the Hornet and add that.

Are you trying to make your life harder or just messing with us? 100 yards? Just get a .223 and be done with it. Will do everything you need and tons of components, rifles, data, and it’s accurate at 100.

The only public ranges I know of are 100 yard and less. Not a lot of choices as overpopulation has pushed most out. That's why I'm also considering either .17/.22 magnum rimfire as an alternative option.

Now you have a conflict with your own post #9.
Good luck with your decision.

Didn’t say anything about the range available. I was speaking to your choice for that range but now it seems like you are considering every cartridge known to man. So I am out and as said good luck with your decision although I fear you will never make one. lol

I guess you mean when I thought about and spoke regarding my .22lr which I have 5 of so I'm good conflicting with now mentioning considering a .17 or .22 magnum rimfire which I have zero of. Sorry I wasn't clearer.

No, only very low recoil cartridges which is basically .22CF and the two main magnum rimfire with maybe one or two CF outside .22 cal.
