Interesting. I was never a fan of Ruger cast receivers ( they tried to make a rifle for the Palma team many moons ago that was cast and they wouldn’t shoot). Avoided any Ruger bolt action like the plague. I’m a decade behind the times regarding Ruger but after reading your positive review I checked out the American and to my surprise it’s made of bar stock! I’ll have to check one out some day.

I do own one M77 now, its fine
I did own another M77 in 22-250, it shot 1/2MOA
They def need bedding and other things to help them if you are going to hang a heavy barrel off them.
A Win Mod 70 or Rem 700 (Chromoly) are better in that regard compared to an M77

But the Ruger American is pretty Solid, not the same as the M77
So you're good to go

Absolutely a winner in every way. My 40X does it routinely with class.
