6.5 Creedmoor Barrel Contour Help

Yep I beat the plague! Carried hand sanitizer in the back pack! Although being cooped up in a building with out going outside for several days doesn't help either!

Thanks for your thoughts. i am going with a Remington Varmint contour.
Frank, you will be glad to know that I ordered a Bartlein barrel! A vendor had one in stock so it is on the way.
This will be my first Bartlein barrel and I am sure that it will be great.

Now for a stock, scope, brass, dies, and bullets. At least I have primers and powder.

I just went through the same thing. After a long talk with Greg at SPR, I went with the same Rem Varmit in 26", should be hear in a few days. My original barrel is still shooting OK, but the throat is toast from 2000+ rounds of H4350. The ruger barrel shot real well for me, I hope the Bartlein will be better....LOL

Regarding barrel weight loss via fluting, contour etc. Another point missed He could go to .35 cal or 9.3x62 and lose a lot of barrel weight that way.

Let me clarify. 6 lbs or less for the barrel alone after cutting the chamber and probably limiting to length to 24 inches. Yes, I know that the completed rifle will be on the heavy side, but I am not walking far.

M24 or Heavy Palma should be slightly less than 6 lbs. when chambered and cut to 24”.

Bartlein's site gives weight of their blanks for the contours at a specified length. It will give you an idea of what will fall in under 6 pounds for a 24". I think most are listed at 26-30".

Bartlien 2B is perfect but still tough to get 6 to 6.5#. Sedero is way too heavy. My new rifle is a borden, alpine, bartlien 2b, mcmillen edge htg chambered by English in 6.5 creedmoor.

I also built light with a 2B @ 24". Very pleased with it.

Reread his post #25....he is talking barrel only. Not barreled action etc...
