6.5 BR

I have in the past built .22, 6mm,30BR, 6 mm Dasher, and had Great success with all. How come I never see very much said about a 6.5 based off a BR case? Is just the stigma we have of the 6.5mm, or is it something else? Thanks, Randy

Howdy !

With the proven accuracy capabilities the 6BR has, along w/ the large variety of quality 6mm bullets that are offered;
what would a 6.5BR do better ? With the case capacity on-tap, where or at what point... would a 6.5BR out-perform
a 6mm BR ? To me, those seem like reasonable questions.

I've done a 6.5 BRX that I really liked and thought was doing well with 123 gr SMK.

It will depend on the purpose of the gun you will build.Longer barrel life would be one possible advantage; as it will be a wildcat one of the improved could be a better choice.
The 6,5x55 sweede had a good reputation as long range cartridge yet it would send a 140 gr. bullets at 2500 fps in the original
militay loading.It did prove quite effective as a hunting round as well.

Guy here shot one for a while with 80-ash gr bullets in short range BR. His site is http://www.65BR.com/

GSPV, thanks for the link, I have often thought about the 6.5 in a br case a 123 gr I think might work nice, seems it would do well if I can launch a 117 gr from my 30 br at 3050 FPS and a 125 at 2950 FPS , seems we could get a 123 going pretty good also.
