6.5 BR

I like my .22 BR, 6 BR and my 6 dasher, I have seen data for a 6.5 BR but have never seen or heard of anyone using it. Any reasons out there?

I have one, there is no advantage over the 6 BR.
Unless you try heavy bullets (140) then it is a little under powered.

The 6.5BR is often used in unlimited pistols to tip over steel animals.

A high point in my IHMSA career was becoming the Unlimited Standing Champion at the 2009 internationals held at Fort Stockton Texas.

The handgun in 6.5BR was a rear grip Rampro with a high rise mount topped with a Leupold rifle scope. I also used that same gun to bag a nice Wyoming antelope.

Howdy !

Just an observation:
While 6BR dies are a commonly stocked item w/ many die makers, any 6.5BR stuff will basically be considered " custom ".

To come up w/ a 6.5BR " case forming " die, I had a 6BR form die converted to 6.5mm by a local machine shop; that used a " boring bar.

If you have a bushing die just change the bushing to what you need…… If you have a chamber reamer make your own seater die. All you need is a 6.5 die blank and have the smith run the same reamer in that you chamber with…….. jim

We have a really good shooter at our local range, a very smart guy, that went into the 6.5 BR as a scaled up 6 PPC. He's given up on it in favor of the 6 PPC and 30 BR. His web site was http://www.65BR.com

If you are shooting it in a rifle, I suggest looking at the 6.5 Grendel and 6.5x47 Lapua before pulling the trigger, pardon he pun, on a 6.5 BR. Pistol? I have no clue.

Now, I'm not trying to discourage anyone. I'm familiar with going down new-ish paths and am of the opinion that you should exhaust well-used roads first.

I have an MOA pistol barrel, 11" long with 1-8 twist that is a remainder off an 18" 6.5x47 Lapua barrel. I had it chambered for 6.5 BR, and turns out it's a lot of fun with the 123-140 grainers. Bet it would make a more than decent hog slayer.
