6.5 BR

I'm thinking of trying out the 6.5 BR this year and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this chambering.
I have a Nesika K on order and a Lilja 8 twist on the shelf. I would be using Lapua brass and shooting 108gr and heavier bullets up to 600 yds. in informal competition. Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.
Tom.

Mike,

Try the 123gr Scenar. Good .547 BC, consistent bearing surface lengths, and they aren't fussy about seating depth. Have no idea what Vs you might get. Maybe 2900fps in a long barrel?

I have a 6.5 BR in an XP 100 I shoot for IHMSA. I have a ton of load data onan Excell spreadsheet I cna send anyone interested. I shoot the 140 SMK and VV133 powder in Lapua brass. I also use a Redding 6 BR FL "S" die with the proper bushing to size my cases.

Hi Mike,
Please send me any information you can by private message if you prefer. Did you have to open up the neck port of the 6BR die to use it for the 6.5?
Thanks Mike,
Regards,
Tom.

if you pl ant o built a 6.5 bR

go in Lapua body with 0.292 neck that near perfect with neck up 6 BR case

as powder N140 is fine with 123 grain bullet, BUR carefully check what bullet seat /throat lenght you have ; not need to deep seat in 6.5 BR

If intresting I have a 6.5 BR REDDING set of die NIB, regular ) for trade

good shooting

DANTEC,
Thanks for the offer on the dies but I've got a Redding 6BR type S FL die and a blank 6.5 Wilson seater die I plan to use. Dave Kiff at PTG has made up a 6.5 BR .292NK reamer with .060 freebore and 1'30 throat angle for me to use with Lapua 6BR brass. I believe the .060 FB should be good for Lapua 108,123 and 139 Scenars. Mike, vmthr in the posts above) has sent me a pile of load data on the 6.5 BR when he used it for IHMSA. With your additional recommendations I should be set when the action arrives. Thanks again.
Regards,
Tom.

Can anyone point me in a direction to gather more information about the 6.5BR? I am just finishing my first Savage custom rifle in 260 rem and already anxious about doing a second. I was looking at the 30BR, but the whole 6.5mm caliber has got my fascination. The 30BR seems to be a very accurate and efficient cartridge...is the 6.5BR the same?

Tom

6.5 bullet have long bearing surface

if your reamer is not made try to go in 0.125 lead by the way you avoid deep seating and escape velocity bad SD

6.5 BR is a very impressive easy cartridge, small cartridge ) that very fun to shoot and reduce powder load, compare to 260 REM ) allow to stay in reduce barrel heat

that a prefcet cartridge for shooting under 500 yards and far esay than the 30 BR, better BC bullet )

just don t try to reach 260 velocity that not safe

good shooting
