6.5-300 wsm

May be something I've just missed but is anyone necking down the 300-270 wsm to 6.5/264?

Seems like the bulet selection would be great along with awesome velocies.


Anyone playing with this?

I've looked at it as I have a .264WM that needs to be rebarreled. Guess why? The issue I have with the .264WM is that I believe the case is too big, and it does not make efficient use of powder, other than for burning the throat. Case capacity is about 82 grains. The .270/7mm WSM is just slightly less at 81 grains, and I think too much for a .264. The 284-6.5 case is getting almost the same velocities with much less capacity around 66 grains. One factory but almost obsolete case you may want to look at is the 6.5 Remington Magnum at 68 grains capacity, if you can find brass for it.
