Can I neck down .284 win brass for my 6.5-284?Kinda new at this so any help or loading data would be helpfull.Thanks!What is the difference between the 6.5-284 norma and the Win?

Yes you can, and many shooters in the US do that - just run it through a 6.5-284 die.

Personally, I'd rather start with Norma or Lapua 6.5-284 brass which is usually very high quality. That's what we do in Europe as Winchester .284W brass is rarely seen here.

I'll second Laurie's suggestion for purchasing 6.5-284 brass from Norma or Lapua. You might also want to check out Nosler custom brass as well. It comes fully prepped and weight sorted. I shoot Lapua brass out of my 6.5-284...good stuff.

No problem necking down .284 Winchester brass, but you'll want to do a light deburr on the primer flash holes and for accuracy shooting check neck thickness variations and sort by weight. Winchester is pretty good brass, but it does need prep work.

My last bunch of Winchester .284 brass has been very consistent for a change..
Necked a bunch of it down for a 25/284 Winchester in a 16 inch XP-100 with no problems at all...
