6.5/155 lapua mega-6.5x55

Anyone load the 155 lapua mega in the 6.5x55? Hunting load

Curious what powder/charge you have worked to?

Im useing 45gr h4831 or 45 r22. Got a just alittle stiffness in bolt lift at 46gr. 46gr Might be ok but dont want to push my brass. Dont have a crony yet either

If you're still watching this post, e-mail me towards the end of Jan 08 at warthog97@aol.com to remind me to post my load for this combo. I'm curently playing in the sand box and don't have my loadbooks at hand. The 155 Lapua is the only bullet that will shoot from my Arisaka turned Sweed, its a very confused rifle :D ). I know I was using RL-22. I had a load that shot 5 shot groups at about 0.8X" @100yds. I have chrony velocities, powder charges and COALs I played with. I think my load data came from both the Lapua website and Steves Reloading page. I do recall that I never ran into pressure signs and that I never missed the 4" swinging plate at 200 yds from the bench, slightly different story when shot offhand, standing  ). My overal lengths will be shorter than yours since I am shooting out of a magazine designed for the 6.5x50 Japanese.

Update: not only did I find my velocity data,I need to organize my field binder!), but I reconirmed the data. I'm getting a very unspectacular 2350fps with the 155s. Still, 200 yds accuracy is about 1 MOA for 5 shots. My longest shot at a deer was will inside 200 yds, and sighted for 100, I can hold a 200 yd point blank, so it'll kill deer.

OK, I made it back home. I found my accuracy sweetspot at 44.0gr of RL 22 with the 155gr Lapuas. I thought I had velocity data but I was mistaken. I plan to get out on the range in the next week or two, I'll have to drag this along I guess. I loaded the bullets to 3.098", which gave me 0.034" of jump in my rifle. I only chose that jump because the mic setting worked out to be 3.200 on my seating die.
Accuracy for this load was 0.724" for 5 shots.
I haven't used it on deer yet, but it looks like it ought to do the job nicely.
