6.5/06 .290 neck 35 or 40 degree shoulder (55.0-55.5 grns of RL 22 142 Sierra Match Kings-3159 fps.)Any one have any pet loads for this cartridge
Are you speaking of Ed Sargent? All 25-06 I've shot loved Imr 4831,, but some of these same rifles like Rel 22 a liitle better.HFV 6.5-06 has almost identical case capacity as 25-06 and 6.5-284. My 25-06 loved accurate 3100 but it is not available anymore I haven't been able to get it to group as good with H4831. My 6.5-284 loves VV165, my next try with the 25-06 will be with VV165 also. It shot better with IMR 4831 than H4831. Hope that helps. Have you seen Bob Sargent lately?
Thank you much Viper6.5/06 .290 neck 35 or 40 degree shoulder (55.0-55.5 grns of RL 22 142 Sierra Match Kings-3159 fps.)
Might be VV560....55-56grn will get you real close if not over 3Kfps for an AI. I used to shoot my 7mag all the time before this build. Neat how almost all of the powders I used for it works for the 6.5-06AI as well....and less punishing.Try VV165 in the 6.5-06, I think you will like it. If speed is what you are looking for there is a triple based VV powder that has almost the same burn rate a VV165, I can't remember the exact number but it was 5xx.

Thanks muchThe 560 is THE powder to beat in my 6.5-06 using 140gr bullets. Great combination of speed and accuracy for hunting. JME. WD
https://store.thirdgenerationshooti.../1/id/24017/s/vihtavuori-n560-1lb-vihn5601lb/I wanted to try VV560 in my 6.5-284 but never could fund any.
I will do so next time I send him an e-mailWell I am sure that the viper is a great shoot, and I am sure he has a great load. However the fast 6.5s have a reputation for burning barrels the 6.5-284 even more than most others. VV165 has a flame temp that on the chart is right next to H1000 that everybody raves about. If I have to pay a little extra to keep my barrel burner alive a little longer then by all means that is what I am going to do. The triple based VV powders 540 ect are at the other end of the spectrum and are rougher than most on a barrel, but if you need speed then they may be worth it to you. HFV thanks much for the pictures!!! That is not the exact stock but is the same as the one he shoot with me only bigger I think. Tell Ed hello for me!
