6-284 overall length

Hey guys, I am going to have a 6-284 built for the 105-115's. I have a defiance long action on order but they offer the XM length in between. I believe it allows for a coal of 3.2. I searched a bit but couldn't really find what the 105's and 115's end up with when throated properly. Can anyone help me with that? It seems like 3.2 would be good but never done a 6-284. Thanks a lot

It looks like if you shoot the 105's and up it is going to be a long action to make it a repeater. If it is a singleshot then a medium or short will work but removing an unfired cartridge may be a problem with a short action, you may have to slip the bolt out to remove the cartridge. Look at the thread about hotrod 6mm's right under yours on this page.

I did see that thread below, I was really hoping to find a rough coal what some call a "properly throated" setup to see if it was under 3.2. It looks like some come out just under that but I would think considering the need to chase the lands I may still need a long.
Thanks for your help

Playing with QL and assuming a neck length of .285, like the parent case, you would need a COL of 3.070" with the Berger 115 to keep the shank .015" out of the neck shoulder junction. Hope this helps, ;)

You can load and shoot a 6-284 in a short action......You cannot readily unload an unfired round without pulling the bolt....Not a major problem..LT
