Phil, a buddy in Salt Lake let me borrow his zero freebore reamer.
He and I shoot Lapua brass.
With his 24' barrel, 35g of AA2230 shoots three shot groups in the zero's at 3900+. In my Lilja three groove barrel that is 28' long, I am getting groups that take a magnifying glass to measure at 100, and 3/4 or less at 300 with the Nosler fifty fives at 3900+.
It would be safe for you to buy a pound of aa 2230 to try, use a thick cup primer.
If the powder works well for you, buy two, eight pounders of
the same lot number, work up a new load.
Phil, 60g Sierra's are unreal accurate also, and have the ogive a little further out on the bullet. I shot a gazillion of them on p.dogs before I started making bullets. Accuracy of the 60g Sierra will amaze you, and you may find that the accuracy of that bullet is on par with benchrest bullets.
I got 10K rounds out of a 6PPc with aa2230, still shooting groups in the high 3's when I retired the barrel.
Good luck!
