541 Question

NO The 580 Series (541) are a different breed although they do share the same trigger as the Remington 788-they however have a different safety --they will work BUT need stock work for clearance . If the rifle you have is indeed a 541 S it has a three screw adjustable trigger and can be adjusted to the Ounces

Good Luck

Jim

Thanks Jim, i appreciate that.. no the one that i am looking at is not a "S" model.. though i did find one for sale down in TX..

Edit: And if i was able to use it.. i wouldn't be able to use the safety.. the stock wouldn't allow it

The Timney 788 trigger has to be fitted to the stock but it does have a safety on it. You may have to remove a bit from the bolt stop pin so the bolt can be removed.

I currently own Six 580 Series rifles and have done the "NRA" 788 conversion on all of them this will help you achieve your goal This is a very simple operation Some of the 541 T's had these adjustments some not

Good Luck

Jim

Well the whole reason that i ask is that i have an Eliseo stock.. and a Kenyon Rem trigger.. if i could use it i would..

And it does have the three screw trigger too.. just got done free floating the bbl. it was touching the bbl in different places and nothing consistent along the channel. Now i need to find someone close that knows about bedding.. i will take it out first with a clean bbl and see how it does with the ammo the previous owner claimed it shot good.. of course his good could be my terrible! Also need a bore guide too for it

Yeah.. i have thought about that.. i have a friend that works for a scope company.. but it seems that they have reduced the kinds of "target" scopes that they produce and what they do have, they have increased the size of the dot! Go figure!

Some of those came with good chambers, some not so good. They are pinned in and easy to pull out and set-back. They are commonly glued back in instead of pinned.

Guy over on Remfire Central listed that does great work on them.

Well took it out today.. the scope that is on it was worthless! Crap!.. but i bought it in the evening.. so it was hard to tell about the scope.. But with some Aguila Super Extra Standard Velocity seems to want to shoot in this rifle really well.. i couldn't really get it lined up right, because everything was fuzzy in the scope.. but even at 50 yards.. if i did a decent job of repeating things.. it wanted to group.. so with a good scope on it, i bet that will tighten up some!

Those are fun rifles...I like them quite a bit. Also, there is a guy making metal magazines for them in case you have issues with the plastic mag. I just got mine delivered today.

Congrats on your new toy! They are fine rifles indeed. I'm working on some more metal mags for these guns and will post them on the classifieds page as soon as I get them finished up.
