53 gr. Vmax vs. 50gr. and 55gr. Vmax

The 53 gr. Vmax seems to be preferred over the 50 gr. and 55 gr. Vmax. Am I missing something about this bullet?

Just the BC number is higher than almost any other .224 bullet in that weight. At least in the same category of bullets. It's also a very accurate bullet in most setups.

I think the only "down-side" with the 53 is you can't get them in the "Z-Max" 500-packs - which are VERY inexpensive in the 40, 50 and 55-grain versions (like $55.00/500) as opposed to paying $18.00/100 or so. Fantastic bullets in all weights. For shooting a few g-hogs - cost is inconsequential. Shooting 3,000 rounds over a five day p-dog or squirrel shoot costs a few hundred more. I think the most accurate varmint bullet in my rifles, overall, is the Blitz King. One day, I calculated I could pay for all my replacement barrels simply by changing bullets - even if it meant sacrificing (aarrgghh!!!) 1/16 minute in accuracy. If cost were no object - I'd only shoot the 53's or the Blitz Kings. And I do shoot them - just not out of my "short range" rifles anymore.
