Wayne,Anyone have the 300 FTX data for the 500 S&W?
Shooting the 500 S&W in a 20" bbl Encore I get 2,377-34 with 46.7gr Lil-Gun and a CCI 200 primers. The accuracy stinks at 4" @ 100yds. I have a Leupold 2x mounted on the rifle.
FWIW - CFE-Blk is worth a try. Good velocity and decent accuracy with reduced felt recoil. However, you need to use near max charges to get the powder to burn cleanly.
I have shot .500 S&W mags for several years using a Magnum Research BRF. Attached is several types of loads for every manufacturer and every bullet weight. I typically shoot 350 to 375 grain HCFNGC rounds that I cast.Wayne,
From Hornady 9th Edition Reloading manual. (attached) for a 8 3/8" BBL S&W (Listed test gun)
If you have a different powder in mind let me know before 10 AM tomorrow as I'm headed back out, and I could run a Quick-Load scenario for you.
I have 3 of these pistols, 2 are "L" Frame S&W's (a 4" Big-Rock Special, & 10.5" Performance Center) and A Magnum Research 10" BFR Single-Action. -
When you "step on the gas" on a 500 S&W you know that you've shot a "real" big-bore handgun !!
