Guys,
I will attempt to answer questions about the Kit Fox series of cases made from the 5.7 case,
as I am the designer of the Kit Fox reamer/case series.
All 3 KF's cases, (17,20,22 cal) are made from the 5.7x28mm case, using the same reamer,
with a straight bodied case, 35* shoulder angle, long necks, which I like.
I made this case because I was tired of paying $20+p/50 rds of RF ammo, and having limited results (IMHO).
I get better results from this tiny CF than RF, I think of it as my Reloadable RF.
I have just a few hundred of the 17gr Horn bullets left, bought over 5000 to use in all my 17 cal I shoot,
these were the "Cats Meow" for these little cases.
The ONLY problem with using the 5.7 case is, there is very little case head support,
take the case head/rim diameter .312" and substract a small rifle primer size .175", plus the extractor cut of the case and it doesn't leave much material support the primer, does it, now stuff it in a small RF type bolt head, along with a CF firing pin+ extractors etc and things get crowded real quick in the Rem 581/591 series of rifles, which is the ONLY action I have worked with so far.
I have been waiting to get my hands on the NEW RF case/rifle in 17 WSM, to see if I can adapt this action to the 5.7 case and have a better option than the Rem series of actions etc.
This case is NOT the one to Hotrod, it does not take kindly to HIGH PRESSURE, .01gr and the case head expands and things go down hill FAST, I have the fired cases to prove it.
When resizing it down from OEM spec's, there will be a neck donut, be aware of it, as pessure go thru the roof in a heart beat. After I figured out all the little quirks and made some adjustments, this 5.7 case formed into any of the above calibers is a REAL Pleasure to reload and shoot, and cheaper than it's RF cousins, IMHO.
Starling's, House sparrows, Magpies and other feathered pests make Feathered Rainbows, Sage bunnies out to 200+yds, DRT, several coyotes called out to 150+yds DRT, when I do my part. ;D
