450 bushmaster bullets for deer

Looking for some input on a bullet for deer with a 450 bushmaster.
I was looking at factory and bullet reviews for 450 bushmaster stuff and there were alot of reports of failures of the hornady 250 grain bullets. Federal 300jhp and winchester xp 250 seem to have better reviews, but neither is available as a component.

Sierra makes a 300 grain soft point which is described as to hard for deer, hornady also makes a 300 grain xtp and 300 grain xtp mag. The swift a frames should work, but man they are expensive, really expensive.

Does anyone have experience with this round on deer?

I've only took one deer with a 450 bushmaster but it was with the 250 Hornady bullet and it killed quick but no exit wound and big entry hole seemed to blowed up on impact. Deer didn't go far maybe 20 yards after shot but I would look for a better bullet in my opinion. Deer was right around 100 yards when shot with hand loads

I'm running 250gr TTSX at 2350fps from a m700 I built. 1 buck. Straight to the dirt.

Entrance hole....after blowing through the buck lol.

I also shoot those bullets in my Encore 50cal inline. A little slower...2150ish i believe....Left a fist sized exit in a coyote...

So far, it seems to be the perfect bullet.

My brother in law and I have killed a half dozen bucks here and some very big ones in Michigan with the HornadyFtx, both 225 and 250 with LilGun. In factory shells the Hornady Black seem to be the best with the 250 FTX.

I shoot the .452" tipped slugs designed for muzzloaders/sabots out of my 450 bushmaster and 460 S&W, that work well.

I am a little confused with barnes line, would you mind sharing the part number of the bullet you are using?

Thats one nice thing about the 450....there's a bunch of great bullets for plinking or even hunting. The TTSX is quickly becoming my goto hunting bullet though. The performance has always been the same and it's what I wanna see a bullet do.

I will say the TTSX performs better at higher speeds. Barnes has minimal velocities...I believe I emailed them on another bullet and got a quick response. That bullet is made for the bushmaster and they seem to have it dialed in right. I'd post the coyote pic but its....graphic. you can picture a baseball sized exit. Lol. That was from the Encore inline right around "normal" bushmaster velocity. My bolt gun can take more than the AR platform and shoots ridiculous for what it is...I put 3 in .3 moa at 100yds the other day checking the scope zero before the season.

I haven't hunted with any other bullet in the bushmaster and don't plan to.
