45-70 subsonic Hunting

My question is, does the powder charge of a subsonic 45-70 or whatever (delivering about 1080 fps at the muzzle) produce a sonic pop or bang or whatever you want to call it? I've never tried to find out.

Different powders produce different sounds. I run pistol powders (be very careful when loading) and mine are more of an air nozzle sound and not the normal bang you typically hear. My 45 cal stuff reminds me of a "springer" pellet rifle with it's sudden burst of high pressure air, if you have ever heard one of those?

There are two different “sounds”.

Sonic crack caused by the bullet in flight.

Muzzle blast cause by the bullet exit and the release of gasses, pressure behind the bullet, continuing burn of powder as it leaves the barrel.

All a suppressor deals with is the muzzle blast. It can not control what happens any farther away from the muzzle than where the bullet out runs the exiting gasses. A few feet.
