44 Special roll crimp die question

Running on a Dillon 550C and my question is, any reason I can't take the seating stem out of my RCBS seating/crimping die and use it as a crimp die only? My original die set came with a taper crimp die so I purchased a used RCBS seating/crimping die and want to use it as a crimp die only in station 4, it is a roll crimp die.

Should have no issues. I always seat and crimp separately wether a taper or roll crimp.

I owned a Dillon for over 30 years and just follow TIMO advice and you will be fine.. I have done his way for years and the rounds come out better with four stages.. Later

I have been using a lee crimp die separately for my 44spl. Like you say, don't see why one couldn't just remove the stem to crimp.

Shouldn't be a problem. I do the same thing on my .44 Mag loading. Lee Factory Crimp dies don't work for me since they also resize the bullet too when using larger than usual cast bullets; a necessity when loading for one of my .44s with a .432 bore! Works just fine.
