40x vs. Anschutz

Why does hardly anyone know how to spell Muller? Mueller is a kinda crappy Chinese scope manufacturer. It's pronounced 'Mule..er'.

Muller Works is a highly acclaimed barrel manufacturer. Pronounced 'Mull..er'.

My guess is difference in how German speakers chose to spell their name when they came to the US. Did they drop the umlaut, or change it yo a UE to reflect German pronunciation.

In the list posted, for RFBR, only three are seen in any numbers at a sanctioned RFBR match. Muller, Shilen, and Benchmark. Mostly Muller and Shilen. Some Benchmarks, hardly any Lilja anymore, and I have only seen a couple of Harts over 4 years and only at really big matches and they were WAY down the leader board.

Best bet if looking for a barrel that can be had fairly quickly, Shilen or Benchmark, especially the 3 groove Benchmark.

Mueller does make a so so scope, but it's hard to beat their main product line.

I've had two, still have one. Sold off the target scope, my first target scope. Mushy clicks, almost couldn't feel them at all, dark image and poor tracking. Now other guys with the same model, were happy. I still have my Eradicator.

Going back to the barrel list, I left one off that bares mentioning...Broughton. There are still plenty of RFBR rifles with Broughton barrels on them and you still see them being competitive.

A follow up.

I sold the older Match 54, I will miss it because it was a such a nice old target rifle but I that took that money and purchased a Anschutz 2013 in the aluminum 2313 chassis. This way I can shoot smallbore and my Barnard action in the same chassis. I may still eventually put my 40X in my Eliseo chassis but I am currently no longer in a hurry to do so.

I have an affinity for single shot .22's and alternate using a BSA International, a 40x, Anschutz MS-64, Anschutz BR with a 52 trigger. All are accurate with the right ammo with Lapua Biathalon X. Fiochi Winter, and SK Long Range seemingly better than many other brands. The 40x and BSA are position rifles and all group very well at 150yds.
