40X Gas Vent

I was noticing that on two of my Rem. 40X actions, there is no gas vent hole on the right side of the receiver ala a Rem 700.

Do the 40X actions not have this vent hole? Just curious.

No. Rumor has it that Mike Walker thought them useless and was able to eliminate the hole on his pet project. My two 40XBR rifles have no gas holes.
