Excellent suggestion. A buddy of mine had Mark re-barrel his Myers action several years ago, same issue with non-Ross tapered barrel, you need the bushing to convert the original 1-1/16" down to 3/4". Mark did an excellent job and that rifle shot very good.

Eley owns Killough Shooting Sports, as well as both sanctioning bodies.....ARA and PSL. Dan is still the head guy at Killough's, but is also under direction from Birmingham.....and I don't mean Alabama!

+1 for Penrod and Voelker. I asked Gorham to work on my 40x a few years ago. He told me he no longer works on 40x because they take too much work to tune. I don’t know if he has changed his policies since then.

Who can i get to do a calfee type barrel fitting to my 40x with the reducer bushing insert and straight barrel? What is the lead time these days? If it works out ill be needing 2 done back to back

Michael is really good. however you are likely in for a looonggg wait. runs at least 4-6 months. i picked up my last 2 projects after 14 months. both projects partially complete - really close to being finished.

Mark Penrod is pretty highly recommended in rimfire circles. He can rebarrel all the Euro stuff, for example…and they can be a real PITA.

The scope is one of 3 produced in the Remington Custom Shop that I got from Mike Walker. I also have the prototype scope also. They were 24X

Instead of making an insert would it not be better to contour a blank to look like the thinner barrel with a big chamber end to fit the 700 style threads? I my underdeveloped mind it seem like the extra set of threads would be a potential for bad fit???
