3rd Bushnell failed. What now?!?

I have my 3rd Bushnell forge rifle scope that failed this past weekend. The diopters work there way loose causing reticle movement that changes POI. Its a Bushnell Forge 4.5-27 x50 FFP Mil\Mil. I hate Bushnell \ Vista outdoors customer service with a passion. Last time I sent this thing back I didn't have my scope for 5 months and the time before that it was 6 months. And they gave me 10 different excuses why its taking so long. I don't have the money to step up to the higher end scopes for PRS. I'd love to get a Razor but now I'm stuck with another 1k$ scope that won't hold zero. Any body have any suggestions on what I should do?

If 1k is your budget I would be looking really hard at Leupold. They have a few options around that price point or just slightly higher. I seen the other day that Natchezz and Midway were clearing out the last available 8.5-25 LRP scopes for under 1k. Excellent scopes for the money.

I just got a NXS 12-42 for $1,100. About a year ago I got a NXS 3-15 for $1,000. Excuse me if I keep passing on the Sightrons. ;)

Trijicon makes excellent optics and Tenmile is probably one of the toughest most reliable scopes out there. Might be a little out of your budget range tho.

I have not owned a Sightron but you can’t deny their reputation for good optical quality and reliability.

Surprisingly enough, Burris has been putting out some scopes with really nice glass in the mid price range. I recently purchased a Signature HD 5-25 and a XTR 8-40 F Class scope. Both have really great glass, especially the Signature HD, but are second focal plane. I can’t speak for durability and reliability yet because I have not shot with them. I also hear people speaking highly of the Burris Veracity line which is FFP and probably suited better to PRS. I bet the 5-25 Veracity would fit the bill well.

There are a lot of turret/tracking failures on Vortex scopes including the Razor line. Do your research on them. Good warranty but sucks when you have to make claims because the optic failed you. As I’m sure you know with your current situation.

Yes. I am shooting PRS matches at least once a month. Usually twice a month. Between practice and matches, I'm behind the scope very frequently.
You may want to wait for a used DMR 2, they just came out with a newer version of them and you'll likely see them for sale at a significant discount from people looking to upgrade. I don't think the Forge was made to be dialed as much as a competition scope.

The last I knew, Bushnell repair/warranty was no more. Scope is broke, they replace not repair. The 6500/Elite type line had some support.
If they really repaired the Forge I would be surprised, unless things have changed lately.

An Athlon Midas-tac might suit your needs well. I have a lot of rounds on mine but it's only been on a .22lr. I would say get the Cronus if you could find a used one. I bought mine as an open box from Cameraland for $1200.

I took a new and unused bushnell Forge on trade. On a new custom 308 could not get rifle to group under 1 1/4 inch at 100 yards, swapped the forge out for an older Leupold and rifle immediately started grouping like it should. Cut your losses and replace the bushnell with something dependable.

the 1000 dollar range there’s the vortex strike eagle that two of my buddies have had really good luck with. The sightron are well regarded. I only had 1 and it wasn’t what I wanted exactly but it was nice. I’ve been running the elements recently and have had fantastic luck with them. Give them a look

For PRS half the scopes mentioned above would not work. You need FFP with a good Christmas tree reticle for holds. 5-25x range area is a good place to be. Find a scope with those attributes in your price range and you will be fine.

Also Razors do not have rampant turret or tracking issues. They are the most used scope in the PRS and have a great reputation. Also even if you get a lower priced Vortex and had an issue you get it back in 1-2 weeks max. Not months.

ETA the PRS gear survey page for scopes.
