375 CHEYTAC

Hey guys after several attempts to find a .338 ive decided to have a .375 cheytac built on a barnard action, its the same price as buying a HS HTR .338.....Does anyone here have a 375 cheytac? just looking for some info on loads, barrel life, performance etc as i dont know a great deal about this particular calibre but it seems to be a pretty hot number!
cheers guys

Still looking for 338? I have a Dakota Arms 338 Lapua in McMillan A2 stock (ADL) with 27.5" lothar walther barrel. Have all components (1000+ Lapua brass, rcbs dies, and 500 + 300 gr SMK Bullets. Scott

Hi Boa,

375 Cheytac is truly great and should be a whole lot of fun. My experience with an early Sako TRG 42 in 338 Lapua was not entirely favourable. The muzzle brake walked off the end of the muzzle as the cross bolt did not recess deeply enough, and the brake also seemed very inefficient. So I had to fill the hollow cavities of the cheek piece and forarm with lead shot in epoxy resin. Also, after several shots, a heat haze seriously builds up, 10 shots is a real issue. If I went back to 338 Lapua, it would be using a heavy fluted bull barrel and moderator, with a mirage band covering all.

I have wondered what long range shooting could be done with 375 H&H in a hunting rifle, using the 375 Cheytac heads, but these heads need a faster twist than 375 H&H has.

The 338 Lapua can be opened up to shoot 50BMG heads, and this looks fun to explore. SSK call it the 50 Peacekeeper.

Boa, bringing this back to life to ask if you finished your build yet? I'm just getting started with my 375 CheyTac. Got my Warner die yesterday, what a gem. I got my rifle slightly used (380 rounds). It's an older Lawton 8000, LRB barrell and brake, XLR Evolution Extreme HD chassis, Jewel trigger, Nightforce NXS 8-32, with ARC M3 rings and 20 MOA polished SS base from Murphy Precision. Got any pics of yours yet?

:) Ho..Ho...someone to talk 375...I have a BAS 375...its shoots great Lawton 30" barrel Bat action...now I'm shooting 138grs of Returbo with at 350 Cutting Edge bullets at 3230 fps. Shooting it at 1300 yards with great groups 8" and better...can hit a 22" steel plate on a good day @ 1 mile.

OK your turn
