.357 Magnum SS rifle

While I can't tell you what will shoot best in that one-of-a-kind rifle, most of the research I have done seems to focus in on 2400 and Bullseye powder as the best alternatives. My Rossi R92 definitely prefers 125 grain bullets but it has a 1:30 twist. Are you going to shoot targets or hunt with your rifle?

Any difference between cast ans jacketed bullets in terms of accuracy~?
I dug around and to my notes and recollection I never used a jacketed bullet in my rifle.
Size is king with cast, proper fit. Don’t ask what mold number or style, they should be available from Accurate Molds. I would look and see if your inclined to cast or see a picture of design I used.

We shoot A LOT of 357 in Rifles.

(haven’t read the entire thread)

I assume you are going to use for medium size game around 200 yards.

We shoot A LOT of 357. 180gr XTP at 200 yards or closer should be fine and can be loaded quite accurate. We have had really good results with HS-6.

I don’t have any expience with lead in 357 but do know that people get really good accuracy with 200gr lead to 200 yards also but your going to be traveling much slower.

It’s a single shot so I believe some manufactures make spire point bullets that you can get much better BC numbers out of. Even with those though your going to run out of steam REALLY fast much past 200 yards.

Good luck! :)
I'm 82 years old and will be using an original Lyman tang peep sight, so 200 yards would be the farthest I would ever shoot. My medium size game would have to be larger than a 55 gallon steel drum for me to even see it, and a 200 yard shot would be a very rare opportunity since I live in an area where the change in demographics over the past 40 years has changed so drastically that there are very few and very restricted places to discharge a firearm.
During my adult life I've enjoyed tennis, classic cars, hot rods, and shooting with shooting being my absolute favorite. I've lost interest in the first three past-times and now opportunities to go shooting have diminished to almost nothing. My biggest sadness comes from the fact that my grandsons will never see many of the things I enjoyed growing up~!!!! I suppose they could still play tennis~!

Paper and steel only and those only when the rare opportunity shows itself. Despite the fact that we are overrun with wild hogs I won't spend $200 a day to hunt them~!

One of my 357's really likes mp300 under a 180gr jhp. Otherwise, the rcbs 35-200 clone (I use the plain base version and a version where I machined off the gas check part of the mould). would be a good bullet. I have shot a 235gr in my Ruger #1 in 357 max. I think NOE makes one that weight. My mould is from a mfg. that was only in business for a short time. I shoot a lot of 2400 in my 357 rifles.

For pure accuracy I would stick with heavy long bullets given the fast twist rate. Rim Rock Bullets makes a 180 grain hard cast flat point bullet that you might want to play with. Start with 10-11 grains of 2400 and work up very slowly. You don't need to push velocity for accuracy inside 200 yards.
