357 mag 5,6,or7 inch

This may or may not be of interest to you, but the current issue of Shooting Times magazine (September 2024) has an article by Layne Simpson comparing .357 mag load velocities with one powder and one style of bullet (Hornady XTP) in 110gr, 124gr, 140gr, 158gr and 180gr. He used a 2.5" bbl, a 4", a 6" and 8" bbl. The loads he used where all at or very near maximum for the bullet weight. I found it interesting enough that I plan on saving it for reference in the future.

I have 3", 4", 6" barrels. The 3" is in a Speed 6, the 4 and 6" are in Pythons. I had 87 fps spread between the 3" and 6" with black talon.
