338BR Revisited

How are things coming in the 338BR world?

I've seen a post here and there but it seems like enough time has gone by to revisit/check in.

Who is running one? Shooting VFS, short range BR, other?

Twist rate, load data? Die selection?

I have a 14 inch Thompson Contender 338 Whipser. Barrel Was made by SSK industries and I bought does from SSK. I’m shooting the Nosler 300 grain custom company bullet. 10.2 grs of HP 38 yields velocity of 1004 FPS. I shoot IHMSA with it and it’s a blast

Good to hear! IHMSA goes out to 200 correct? How do you find accuracy, recoil?

A gunsmith buddy was going to build a 338BR,but instead did a 30-284 short! Gives A little more ump over a 30 BR IMP for 300 yd Hunter For Score Matches

One of the gunsmiths I know built a .375 Forsberg for bolt action pistols. What a hoot to shoot! Very accurate and was used to dispatch Elk and shoot silhouettes. Parent case was 7mmBR.

I've done some 375 Grendel's on CZ 527's for when the elk get within 50 yards of the kitchen window. Very quiet through my buddy's 9mm can.

Yes 200 meters. My load is 10.2 grs of HP38 and recoil is mild. Maybe a stout 357 Mag. I have let several guns shoot it and they are amazed at low recoil.
