338 lapua Recoil, just how bad?

I have several of the .338 Ultras, and my friend and his son just bought custom Lapuas on 700 actions, these all of which are hunting rifles. They have Kirby Allen breaks and the recoil is almost too little to believe. I have Defensive edges on mine and the recoil is alot more. I was pleasantly suprized to shoot thier rifles. Ron
