338 Lapua Imp. Barrel Question

I'm rounding up parts for a 338 Lapua Imp. Going to build it off a Bat HR action and have a question about which groove configuration to use. I see Bartlein barrels mostly with 5r style but I see Krieger barrels with both 4 and 6 grooves. I've also read that the Brux barrels are cut with 6 grooves. This is going to be a 28"-30" barrel with something along the lines of a heavy palma contour. Any pros or cons to any of the groove styles or numbers? Just thought I'd ask those of you with more knowledge about this before I place an order for one.

Where do you find Krieger offering a 4 groove 338 barrel? The only thing I have known them to offer is a 6 groove or a 5r.

4 groove was a misprint on Bugholes website.

I'll throw it out there. I currently have a 4 groove Brux on my 338 Imp. The other is a Bartlein 5r that I haven't shot yet. 9.35 twist I think, 31" long. The throat hasn't moved in 425 rounds. 3060 fps with a 300 grain OTM. Got me a tie for 1st place last month at the KRG ELR match. 2650 yards, 5 consecutive hits. The gun flat out shoots!
Reloder 33 will be your friend. I was a bit sore after 55 rounds, not from the recoil, but moving that beast around.

Thanks guys, looks like I can't go wrong with any of them. Just need to have the guy narrow down the contour he wants, and then try and find a vendor with something sitting on the shelf.

I have 2 rifles chambered in 338 lapua improved 5r.….they both shoot consistently around 3” at 1000yds in good conditions. They’ve each shot groups in the 1s a few times.

I normally end up between 102-103gr of n570 for accuracy. They run 3020fps with a 30” barrel. I’ve had them up to 3100fps, but accuracy was at 3000-3020.

Don’t be scared to jam .010 with the 300 otms.
