.338 Groups

20191122_134844.jpg Here's one out of my 338 Edge from the other day when my friend and I were at the range. 89 grains H1000, 300SMK.

Edit: I guess I didn't say, but yes this was 500 yards like Jesse mentioned on the next post. He was with when I did it.

I had to go look thru some notes.. 2006 to 2012 .. 3 of us messed around w 2 custom built 338 rifles. Best group was Just under an inch at 500 meters. Only Once, that I could find in those old papers. Both the Lapua & the RUM version: Temperamental is the word that describes them both. Some days hero/some days zero. Good Luck, I'm watching this w great interest. My youngest nephew has the full blown custom 338LM version we started with. It does not see much service these days. mike in ct

Heres a cold bore 5 shot group (cold fouled barrel) and 2, 3 shot groups comparing annealed to unannealed and different brushes, all 6 of those shots held 1.7" vertical. The other 2 groups on that paper was a .30 I was working with. 4" aim dot at 1008yds. 338 lapua improved. This is a bipod gun not a target rifle so I do tend to like to see cold bore groups out of it. I find the 338s to be very forgiving to different load variables. Im still working on trying to get it to shoot really small at 1k, but I would say they seem to be very consistent 4-5" groupers. Id really like to get that to 3". I have a handful of things I want to test once the weather breaks here. I did quite a bit of testing this spring with different neck preps, different brushes, lubes, bushings, and annealing. I do enjoy trying to get the big guns to shoot as well as the little ones. Its a little different challenge.

Please explain " bushing" as you use the term as it applies to neck prep.
Thanks in advance.

Have you experimented with ADG brass? I've used it in a 28 Nosler and had better results than with Nosler brass. Just curious if it would be better in the .30 plus cartridges.

Neck bushings to change neck tension.
ADG brass is excellent, if Lapua doesnt make it that who I like to use. Im this case Im using Lapua.

Ya right ????
It is. @gunnermhr shot it, @jghoghunter was there when he shot it.

Don't worry about it Mikee just another wantabe computer shooter who is not capable of shooting or not willing to try for fear of failure (probably because of the rest of his life) so he hides behind his keyboard and tries to degrade others efforts. I'm sure if certain other people posted the same picture it would not have been questioned!!
