I tried CFEBLK and the numbers were not as good. Paul recommended the H110/W296.

My experience with CFEBlack is that it’s a bit anemic compared to other powders, especially for 300BO. The branding is misleading

However, CFEBlack is the “go-to” powder for 300HAM’. It does a great job throwing 125gr .30 cal. bullets at same velocity that 6.5 Grendel shoots 123gr bullets.

Yeah. I’ve never found a use for it. It’s too bulky for 300bo subs. I think it’s going to fertilize the yard this spring.

CFE BLK does not do it in 300 blackout BUT it works great in 7.62x39. Might also work well in a 30BR sized case if your just trying to use it up?

Berrys 220gr plated and the 190 sub-x both expanded well at subsonic vel @ 50 yards in my very unscientific wet newspaper test. YMMV

Looks like Trail Boss is history, but then I also heard tb is not very accurate in subsonic 308 anyway. I found a load of 150's with Titegroup, but it's so compact I doubt it will ignite reliably. So that leaves bulky flake powders like Clays and Blue Dot. Does anyone have advice for 168 Eldms? (R700, 24 inch 5R barrel, no can)

To answer the original question .
307gr subx bullets in 338 ARC loading did not expand worth a hoot.
Friend and I went testing. He was pushing 350gr makers in 8.6, I was pushing 300gr makers, SMK, and 307 subx.
My loads were tried and true. 1088fps. Subsonic at my location.
We shot 1 gallon water jugs(4 deep) with a sandbag backstop.
307 subx plowed through it all. Never recovered.
Pulled the plug from a subx and got some peel back and caught in the sand.
Makers spreed open and stopped in 4 th jug.
AR pistol with 10.5” pistol gas hybrid 46 10.6 of lilgun CCI SRM primer

Friend was working his 8.6 loads up and only achieved 857 fps but the makers 352 gr expanded great. Distance was 10 yards to target
