338-300 Norma Improved 35 degree

I went through that print so it would work with a custom go gage and give the proper crush. You cant release a print and assume guys will chamber them right. Then I get the calls. I still get calls about BRAs misfiring because they were not set up with the crush they need to fire form. So I will have to redo my print for this to be made public. The simpler thing would be for you to just take my 300 print and alter the neck and freebore to work with your brass and bullet.

My Wheeler 300 improved has been a pleasure, hopefully we get to try it out again this year with two elk tags in the house, my wife and oldest daughter got the tags. I’d love to try the 338 version, those 300 OTMs would be serious medicine.

Here is a little info for a solid hunting bullet I will be trying this season. Same 24” barrel. H1000. Cci 250’s 2980 FPS. 260 Hammer Hunter bullets. 3 shot 100 yard zero. I also purchased some 338 Norma Lapua brass and will post measurements. This could be a nice benefit when considering no doughnut at shoulder junction.
Was planning on trying the Badlands 275 SBDIIs; but loading to mag length; I’m already crunching powder at 88.6g N570. Gonna still send a couple; but thinking they’re just gonna be too long (2.000” bullet).

What were you jumping the 260 Hammers at? How much H1000 got you to 2960 w/ 24” barrel? I’m running a 28” Bartlein. Last, was it you with the review on the 260s that you’ve taken 2 elk DRT?

I am going off memory here. But 91-92 grains. They were .010 off. But .050 off shoots good as well. The BC wasn’t accurate for me so check that out. I didn’t end up killing anything with them.

Just finished a seating depth test at 100 yds with some Tubb 299 DTACs w/ nose ring. 20 off was the best group. Load: 93.4g N570, 0.002 BT, GMM 215. 2901,2985,2984 FPS. Need to take it to 1K yds next, but still want to try some 260 Hammers.

Finally got to take her to distance today. Stacked 3 on top of each other and pulled one at 1K yards. Alex Wheeler certainly put his magic on this rig. 50 Deg, 7500’ DA, 49% HUm; 2925, 2925, 2930, 2927 FPS with 299 DTAC w/ Tubb nose ring (G7 BC 433) and 94.0g N570.

With BC 433 ( only PDM available in the bullet library) in Kestrel and 5-7 knots right to left, called for 59 up and 2 right. I put 5 knots in and shot the group. 1K yard plate is up on a hill so was probably getting a little more wind, and 3 right would have been dead on. But sticking with 433 BC for sure.
