33 vs 43 degree cutter

43 degree on a 40, per K&M, trim to the Exact same length for proper brass flow.
You did go a bit to far into the shoulder.

Also New to Brass turning.

I have a Question. On a 6MM BRA with a .268 chamber.

The Brass needs to be fire formed from 6MM BR.
Wouldn't you turn the necks with a 30 Degree (6MM BR) cutting turner to accommodate the .268 chamber before fire forming?

And once the Brass has been fire formed would you Re-turn the brass with a 40 degree cutting turner?

I find you get better control of the cut into the shoulder if you use a cutter with a sharper angle than the parent case. For the 6BR parent case (30 degree), I use a 40 degree cutter. YMMV.

Fireform or hydro form first and then turn necks after if absolutely needed. I wouldn’t even turn necks on Lapua brass.

With a .268 neck it would be hard to chamber a round without turning before?
Yes I would. I run a 271 neck and I don’t turn the lapua brass at all. And my dasher hammers. 2 of 3 relays cleaned on Saturday.

If you can feel the shoulder cut with your finger nail, it is too far. Here is some 30-06 Lapua brass I made into 25-06 brass. I always use a steeper cutter than the shoulder angle. Keeps from cutting into the shoulder as much.

Jeep2 god move on turning the necks on 25-06 brass. I hear about people necking down and not turning necks and it may work some times but I tried it years ago and had big problems. They look great and you know they have enough clearance to work without an over pressure.
