325 WSM

Put money down on an HS Precision sporter 325WSM
Over the next month I'll be looking for information and gathering reloading components.
Welcome your pet loads and calibre comments or experiences.
Leaning toward NF 20mm one piece base and NF 30mm rings

I have been hunting with the 325 WSM with one of the first (I believe the second one off the line) Kimber 8400 Montanas. Taken three elk with one shot drops from 200 to 375 yds.. Using 180 gr. Barnes TSX bullets of which I have recovered exactly one - TSX bullets have never let me down in any caliber. That being said Nosler 200 gr. Partitions and Accubonds shot well as also.
I have a 3" magazine on this rifle and lengthened the throat by 0.100" to utilize more case capacity. Tried W760, Reloader 15, H4350, finally settled on 70 gr. of Reloader 19 or 72 gr. of Reloader 22. Not recommended powders by anyone but I am getting 3100 fps. and damn near one hole triple-cold-shot accuracy. Three rapid shots are right around .75 moa (from a #1 contour barrel no less). I use Norma 300 WSM cases necked up (as there was no 325 available), Win. LR Primers. Outside trimmed the case necks about 60%. Getting about seven loadings on the brass before the primer pockets loosen up.
Glass wise I use a tried and true Leupold 2-7x32 Vari-XII or 3-9x40 of same vintage. Always shoot seated with a sling which works for me...
Have fun with yours!

IN all their wisdom, RCBS (the first to come out with dies of course) installed a tapered ball in the sizer. One pass and I was done. For all the bashing they receive, my rounds loaded with plain jane RCBS dies have very low (.001" or less) run out at bullet and case neck. Someone told me once that with reloading it is more technique than hardware...
I have had such good luck with Alliant products I tried them first and, since they worked so well, stuck with it. Seems H1000 would be too slow since the case is not really as big as the 300 Win. Mag.. If I had not lengthened the throat I would not have been able to make the Re22 work. I really do not enjoy endless load testing, I am in it to shoot. Unless there is a problem that I have to deal with I just use what works and start pulling triggers!

Anything good to say about the 325wsm. I love mine. Post any sub MOA loads you’ve worked up. I’m always looking for other loads to try out.
