30BR

Hey man. I hope I didn't offend you with my fire form bullet assessment, but it seems I may have with your mere mortals comment. I was not downing your efforts. I hope those bullets shoot in the zero's for you. It just hasn't been my experience and I tried pretty hard. If I could have got them to shoot with repeatable match precision, I'd be using them. I wish you well in your endeavors.
Thanks for your post. Not offended at all. Not even saying you are wrong. I don’t know as of now if they will agg. consistently in this barrel or, if 5 shot groups will look anything like the three shot groups. If the 5 shot groups agg in the .1s, that is good for me.

Time will tell.

Hey folks. I have a 30Br that I am trying to set up as a hunting rifle and have run into a problem. I am using a Wilson seater and I have no problems with seating BIB 118s or Barnes 130 TSXs, but when it comes to seating Sierra 125 Pro Hunters or Hammer 130 Shock Hammers the Wilson seater runs out of stem length and will not set the bullets at less than a 2.140" COAL. Before I go buy another brand, I could use some input on what to consider. Thank you.

Shot my 30br today while grilling. I think the load I worked up is going to be ok. Now I just need to get a tuner in this barrel. I increased the powder charge by .03 and then another.04. Dialed it right in. Load is pretty stout but the Lt. 30 will shoot. 3 shot groups at 100.

What's a good starting load for 118gr BiBs using h4198?

Also a good load for some Sierra 110gr Varmints I'm going to use for some barrel breaking and foulers to save my good bullets.

Thanks

This was in my 1 - 17 tw bench rest rifle. I now have a 1 15 tw. hunter but have only done minimal load work up so far. But the 125 gr. Noslers are showing good promise. Waiting for temps to cool off a bit and a better stock to continue testing.

35.7 gr. Lt30 with 112s from Bart and Fed 205m is working for me at least at 100 yards. Seating, tiny mark from lands, so "touch". This was with a 17 shot load work up. So, this Sunday conditions look to be as good as they get at Anderson Creek, 4 mph gusts to 9, I will shoot at the 100, 200, 300, 400 yard groundhog match. 1 inch 10 ring, tiny x is 11. Except 100 yd, peeking g..h. very small half of a tiny10 ring.

Follow the Anderson Creek match reports on the Competition pages. We have some very good shooters who go head to head the first 3 weekends of each month, May thru October plus winter matches Jan thru April.Since I have figured out how to post pics I will show a pic or so each month on the match reports. We have some seasoned vets, great place to learn bench shooting.

Where is this Anderson Creek located? Also the competition pages?
https://andersoncreek.blogspot.com/ GPS coordinates on top of page.

Not sure if that is what Jeff meant by competition pages. But it is a start.

I think he meant the Competition forum where results are posted:

Only because I said I would, can be humbling. My new bullet,112 X Outs with LT30. Not a 30br day except at 100yds, tiny 10 ring, shot clean. 1 inch ten ring rest of the way. At 200 yds the normal switcy winds started. Shot clean. 300 yds, I was a disaster, dropped 5 points that included an 8.I shot, too late flag flipped, never caught up. 400 yds was actually better. Had 3 inside 10s, but 2 8s touching dead 6:00 low. I think trying to shoot quick I got on the gun, bad, bad, and bad. So I was a contributor. Speaking of not a 30 day, Peggy Yonkoski was second shooting a 30 or a 30x47. Maybe she'll give be some pointers. I will shoot the 20 shoot 400 yd match Sunday with the 6BRX. Back to the 30br at 200 at the August UBR target match.

Oh well, still you were out there shooting and having fun. Every little doggy has his day. At least you know what was problematic and you didn't come away guessing. Next time it will be better.
