Is this a new bullet or have you loaded it in the past?I have a 323, 324 bushing tried both
Never loaded 30 BR before. So new everything. Have been loading 6BR, 6.5 creed, 30-06, 243, 5.56, 9mm, 38,357 etc. I have had a similar issue a few years back with the 9mm Flat base bullets. Is this a new bullet or have you loaded it in the past?
I’m not using a pressure gauge but seating force is not extreme or anything that I’m noticing differently than what it would feel like seating 6br etc.I do not use bushing dies so I can't comment on the use of them, but this looks like a sizing issue in that the necks were sized too much and /or not expanded enough after sizing.
How much force is needed to seat the bullets. You should not have to force the bullet into the case.
Well the custom die says .330 on the seating die. And the LE Wilson only says 30 BRIt also looks like the seating die is not centered as the bulge is on one side only. Is the seater die set up for your specific NK diameter ?
Also IT’s measures.3266 on the pressure ring and the other one was .3275. Which I believe by my measurements it was turned down to 10.5Well the custom die says .330 on the seating die. And the LE Wilson only says 30 BR
Yes the bullet is only expanding where it is seated, but bulge on one side of the neck. How much neck tension are you using.
I appears that you die is sizing almost all the way to the shoulder a considerable amount and the bullet is expanding only the part it contacts.
Didn’t check before seating, was going by the bushings. But after seat it was .3266 and .3275Virgin brass? Possibly neck off centered from the expanding process? Also what is the neck diameter before and after seating?
Yes virgin 6BR brass that I necked up and Turned neck, turned neck was 10.5 Bullet was .3081 I would have thought that it would have gave me .328 or .329 range. I had .3266 and then after swapping out 323 bushing and using 324 and trimming more than I did before now realizing that I didn’t take a measurement of turned neck, but bullets pressure ring after seated was .3275 , they all had bulge. Even with a deep chamfer it’s difficult to start the flat based bullet straight.Virgin brass? Possibly neck off centered from the expanding process? Also what is the neck diameter before and after seating?
Die says .330. Bullet seated measures.3266? So bushing’s to small? It also looks like the seating die is not centered as the bulge is on one side only. Is the seater die set up for your specific NK diameter ?
For a .330 neck diameter u will need to turn the neck wall thickness to at least .098Also IT’s measures.3266 on the pressure ring and the other one was .3275. Which I believe by my measurements it was turned down to 10.5
.308 out of a new box and they measured . .3081 110 gr. Flat baseStupid question here, but are the bullets for sure .308" you didn't happen to grab 7.62x39 bullets?
