30BR and the 'jam/seat' method

Al
who made your new bullet dies, also in your pic. I noticed you referenced .324 / .327 might that be your base to ogive of your bullets ?

so thanks al.
i have new 30br i had not got a real handle on..
so i started over with your process
i started at 25 off ith h4198, but should have dropped my starting charge do to the big increase in start pressure with that much jam.
bottom line, not fine tuned but sat i shot an .085 with your guidance, and then went to only 20 jam and got bigger..so i am close
(new rifle is krieger bbl bruno stock, jewell trigger, 15-55nf, barts 112's and either 8208 or 4198)

Hey Al, why don'y you add this to the 30BR Guide thread. Great methodology that is well explained. Thanks
'Morning, Joe. :) The Forum Boss is sure free to move this over there if he wishes to do so.

As you know personally, this method has been advocated, advised and written about by Randy Robinett for over 20 years, now. Long before the advent of the 30BR, this is how we tuned the .30 cal. HBR/Hunter class cartridges. Randy first guided me through this when I was shooting the 30 WareWolf...a -.165 short 308W on the Lapua case. Matter of fact, I can't think of any serious .30 cal. HBR/Hunter competitors that didn't use this method.

So many of the 30BR 'secrets' are the logical extensions of what was being done with the HBR/Hunter class guns simply applied to a more efficient case capacity than the 45.0 gr. water capacity rule that was in effect for the 6X power guns. People should really take the time to learn a bit of the history and appreciate where this stuff came from. Talented 6X shooters are the most over looked group of over achievers ever in the history of registered Benchrest competition. Yet their accomplishments and contributions remain largely ignored and/or unrecognized.

Hope all is well with you guys. :) -Al

Great info! That's why the search function is so important. I search and read posts from Al, Bill Norris, Jeffppc, Alex Wheeler, Tom and too many others to list. If I keep pouring knowledge in, eventually, it will stop running out... Right?
I too am a student of Al Nyhus, SmokinJoe, and the continued list of true knowledge banks here on the site. It's guys like them that help keep the site capable of delivering good solid & quality info.

My bookmarks are chock full of individual posts from those guys. Even a couple in there from you too, Bill.

I'm still super green with this discipline and i am drinking from a firehose as I learn. ...and loving every minute of it.
