I already load for 308 using 178 hornady bullets and 40.5gr of varget. To those that use closer to the max, 45-47gr, whats your case life? Im using win brass right now and have 5 reloads on them. Whats your guy's case life using higher charges?

That is a tame load for Lapua brass, you can bump it up 3-4 grains and it won't effect brass life much if any.

In win brass, I run 200 hybrids really hot with Varget (43 grains). I am just now retiring brass due to incipient head separations. The youngest case lost had 8 firings. Most of my losses are due to oversizing this lot of brass early in their life. Some were fired 4-5 times with headspaces of .003-.004.

Now that I have the right tools for the job, I'm getting past 10 without problem.

As for primer pockets, they aren't as tight as they started, but they aren't loose either.

My headspace doesnt get past .002" ive never had to bump the shoulder yet and I only neck size.

If you don't FL size every loading, I can't imagine getting less than 15 loadings out of a case.

The biggest immediate killer of brass is a carbon ring in the throat. Pressures soar and cases die an ugly death...
