.308: preferred rate of twist?

What would be the preferred barrel 'rate of twist' for a .308 being shot at 600yds, 1:10 or 1:12? Is it a trade-off?

Depending on your application, a 1-12" will handle up to, at least, Sierra's 190gr. Matchkings.
If indecision is always a problem, order a 1-11" :D

So, generally speaking, always go with a faster twist because it allows you to use a heavier, more wind resistant bullet?
At 600yds. which is more important, velocity or wind resistance?
Thanks in advance, I appreciate your insight!

That is correct. The higher BC will fight wind better and I would choose the higher BC,heavier) bullet over velocity at 600 yds all day. Bill
