I currently shoot a 6 Dasher, Defiance Ruckus action, Bartlein #7 MTU contour in a Manners stock. I am thinking about a bolt action 308. I have an AR-10 in 308. but would like better accuracy at 100 to 200 yards.
My question is: Build another toy in 308, or have my gunsmith fit a 308 barrel (Bartlein in 308 MTU) to my current stock. This way I hopefully would only need to remove the 6 dasher barrel and spin on the 308. The Ruckus action bolt face is 308 sized. I have never removed a barrel before, but do just about everything else for my toys.
Early next year, I will be sending my gunsmith another 6 dasher barrel, same as I current have and use. If I can find the same contour, maybe he can chamber both at the same time, and I would not have to send in the rifle to Texas twice. I am in AZ.
I have no reservations on building a second bolt action, but space in the safe is non existent at the moment. Any thoughts?
