308-260 sizing

Yes but you better be very mindful of the OAL and neck thickness after the 260 die has done its work. A better and easier way to me is to run 243 brass through a 260 die. Ive done about 500 this way and had no thick necks, they still need check for OAL. My 308 to 260 I eck turned all of them just to be sure after a few thick ones.

I've done this, works best with 7mm first. Neck turning is a must. 243 brass works best

Since you are streaching the neck of the 243 it is getting thinner and i have found that no necks are thick and turning is not needed unless you just want to uniform them.

.260's made from .308's will be shorter than .260 spec brass. I have made .260's from .243's but prefer to do it by fire forming (COW or just powder) as the necks seem to be more concentric with case body and shoulder than by stretching them over an expander. I have found that the difference in neck wall thickness to be not that great between .243W and .260R brass, like only .003 or so (.243 vs. .264 diameter). I anneal the expanded .260 cases then neck turn and trim to square up. When neck turning a moderate amount of neck wall thickness variations can be seen.

It is also easier if you anneal first and size them all in a 308 die first, then go to either the 7mm or just go right to the 260. I have done it every way it can be done and other than ease of pulling the handle the end result is the same for me. Annealing does two things when doing this, it helps to insure the cases wont split in case they are already a little hard and it helps to stop them from work hardening too much. All three of the calibers discussed are hunting rifles so I just do a very light cut on the outside neck turn. I have never had one "thicken up" because I sized it yet.

Can I just run 308 brass in my Forster 260 sizer and make 260 brass?

I did it with Federal once fired .308 brass. I did need to turn the necks, and trim/chamfer/debur to get the correct OAL when I'd finished. Kinda cool how easy it was.

I use my .308 bushing die to reload 260 cases, and also to make 260 cases from 308 brass. Work in steps, take measurements.
