.300WSM

Hoping to find someone with vast knowledge of .300 WSM. I have had many tell me that trimming cases is not critical. However I am having trouble chambering used brass. Any suggestions? New Brass chambers fine

Haven't run across a centerfire rifle cartridge that didn't need trimming yet. Brass will stretch. Some designs stretch more, or less, than others, but the stuff does stretch.

Have you measured your fired brass to check it against new and against specs?

More than likely, it's not your trim length. The WSM's are known to not chamber if the shoulder is not pushed back enough. My Savage 270 WSM requires a shoulder set back of about .002-.003" to allow rounds to chamber freely. Two Win. supershadows that I load for require even more set back.

The stoney point, now Hornady) headpace gauge is the easiest way to measure this figure. However, a quick fix would be to take a case that's been sized and is still snug...turn the die in about 1/8th turn and resize. Do this until the case chambers freely. Don't go too far though as it will over work the brass and shorten case life.

WSM cases will stretch so please trim as needed to avoid any problems.
