300WM Barrel Life with soft loads

if the 300WM is loaded to low levels, will barrel life go up significantly. Still burning a lot of powder at low loads (as compared to a 308). I'm talking about really low loads like 178 gr.@2700fps, 212 gr.@2500fps, etc.

Yes, and your brass will last forever. However you are going to have a filthy soot filled barrel and a carbon ring that will need to be constantly watched and scrubbed.

IMO, That is not the way 300wm is supposed to be ran. Accuracy and performance is usually at close to top gear.

Understand that this is not ideal. I am beginning to shoot PRS with my son, and we only have one rifle that is well suited for the task. It is a tweeked R700. I want to get my 300WM in the same condition rather than spend the money & build up another 308 (or 6.5). As I get it there, I need to be able to use it as a shooter.

Sounds like I will have to clean the barrel far more than in my 308. How do I look for the carbon ring - bore scope? And, with regular cleaning, how is it best scrubbed out/removed?

Get a Teslong borescope from Amazon. Iosso bore paste or Boretech C4 farbon remover will keep it in check.
